Part 1: Ivermectin and Covid

PLEASE NOTE: THIS NEWSLETTER ADDRESSES SOME SERIOUS ISSUES REGARDING THE “APPROVED” WAY OF TREATING COVID. THE CURRENT TREATMENT PROTOCOLS FOR COVID THERAPY ARE NOT WORKING. IN THIS PRIVATE NEWSLETTER POSTED FOR THE USE AND INFORMATION OF MY PATIENTS, I EXPLAIN SOME OF MY CONCERNS AND PROPOSE THAT THERE MAY BE BETTER WAYS TO TREAT COVID.

IF ANY GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL READS THIS LETTER AND FINDS WHAT I AM SAYING PROBLEMATIC, PLEASE ACT LIKE RATIONAL SCIENTISTS AND ADULTS AND OFFER TO DISCUSS THESE ISSUES IN AN OPEN FORUM. SHOW ME WHERE I AM WRONG. THIS, HISTORICALLY, IS THE METHOD OF SCIENCE.

PLEASE KNOW: I AM VERY HAPPY AND, IN FACT, DESIROUS OF DISCUSSING THESE ISSUES IN A PUBLIC SETTING WITH THOSE WHO PERCEIVE THEMSELVES AS BEING IN POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY AND/OR KNOWLEDGE AND WHO DISAGREE WITH MY VIEWS. SHOW ME WHERE I AM WRONG AND I WILL OPENLY ACKNOWLEDGE MY CHANGE IN UNDERSTANDING.

This is being written on Sunday afternoon, September 5, 2021.

I just finished an interesting (scary?) discussion with a pharmacist at a major pharmacy in our area. The background is…

A new patient saw me late last week for covid related problems. By this morning she was not making the progress we’d like and that we will usually see. So I called in a prescription of ivermectin and steroids to an unnamed pharmacy at about 11 am.

The reason for the ivermectin is that, while it is an anti-parasitic medication, it is also an anti-viral. Despite the press’ derogatory denigration as being a “horse dewormer” (listen to Joe Rogan on his experience using ivermectin and how it appears to have helped him rapidly conquer covid), it is a broadly active drug including anti-viral action.

And the reason for the steroids is that covid sometimes triggers a serious, even a deadly, inflammatory reaction. Steroids are one of the best tools we have to help reduce various forms of inflammation in the body - and can literally save lives.

At about 3 pm my phone rang and it was the pharmacist returning my call. She told me that she could not dispense these medications for covid. The reason for the refusal to dispense was that the corporate office has directed all pharmacists to refuse to dispense ivermectin, steroids, and hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of covid!

“Have you ever before in your career been told that you could not dispense any medication for a specific diagnosis?”, I asked her. In other words, if somebody has perhaps asthma, would you refuse to dispense an antibiotic? Or if they have rheumatoid arthritis, were you to never dispense perhaps a stomach medication?

She told me that never ever in her career had pharmacists been forbidden to dispense any particular drug based on the diagnosis. This refusal is an absolutely new thing for the pharmacy corporation to do.

Not long ago, a friend of mine in another city here in Washington called me on a late Saturday afternoon. He had been fighting the symptoms of covid for a week or so and was having a rough time. He wondered what he could do. I told him I’d be happy to call in some ivermectin. I called the prescription to Walgreens in his city. He sent someone to pick up the prescription and they were told that they couldn’t dispense. So I called the pharmacy the next morning and asked what the issue was. The pharmacist asked me if the prescription was for covid or for something else because if the Rx was for covid she could not dispense.

So I talked with her about this for a bit. “If I am prescribing this for covid, you can’t dispense. If I am calling in the Rx for parasites, it’s perfectly fine and you will dispense?”

“Yes,” she said.

That was my introduction to this amazing world where corporations decide what doctors can or can’t prescribe for an illness. As the first pharmacist told me, this has never been done before! And as far as I am aware, it’s never happened before.

I’ve been practicing medicine for a long time, over 40 years. And never in my experience before the “Time of Covid” has there ever been a question regarding - “What are you prescribing this medication for?”

Ivermectin is not some weird, rarely used medication. According to some writers, over a billion people (some say well over 2 billion) have been treated with ivermectin. And the side effects are minuscule when used with reasonable dosing. It’s an extremely safe and inexpensive medication. As one doctor said writing about ivermectin, it’s probably safer than aspirin.

Too much water, too much aspirin, too much Tylenol, too much salt, and too much ivermectin can all be dangerous. The old saying goes that the poison is in the dose.

Hydroxychloroquine is another medication that has been successfully used for covid. It is widely used to treat autoimmune disease and it is a very frequently prescribed medicine. The first pharmacist mentioned above told me that her pharmacy chain also would not dispense this medicine if it was being used to help people with covid. But if the problem was say lupus, there would be no problem in getting the prescription filled.

Oh, you’re treating parasites, not covid? Of course, you can have however much ivermectin you need!

Oh, you're treating lupus, not covid? How much hydroxychloroquine do you need?

This way of thinking and dispensing is so weird!…and, again, in all my several years of practicing medicine, this has never happened before.

Therefore, I believe it’s legitimate to ask the question: Why would two large pharmacy corporations refuse to fill properly prescribed ivermectin? Or steroids? Or hydroxychloroquine - when used for covid? But, please remember, they had no problems dispensing however many opioids doctors might prescribe for whatever and thereby bringing on a horrible opioid crisis. Opioids were fine. But not extremely safe ivermectin if used for covid?????

I might say to the pharmacist: I’m trying to help people sick with and dying from covid. But they say, “No! We shan’t provide any of those life-saving medications for them!”

The question is, why would pharmacies do this? The question is easily answered.

The folk at the FDA put out bulletins saying “Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent Covid-19”.

Then Washington State Department of “health” puts out a similar directive.

And now Yakima County Department of “health” has done the same thing.

Despite the success of ivermectin in particular, as we shall demonstrate in Part 3, the various Health Departments are saying that it should not be used. And the pharmacies bow deeply to their lords! But what about the sick people? In the next section, Part 2, we will discuss the current recommendations for treatment which is routinely “THE SHOT”. Get the “vaccine”. And we’ll briefly discuss some of the data surrounding its safety.

Part 1 Summary: Due to statements by the FDA, the Washington State Health Department, and the Yakima County Health Department, it is increasingly difficult for people who are actually sick with covid to obtain some of the best treatments there are for covid: ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, and appropriate steroids. We are going to ask: What do they recommend and is it safe? Is it appropriate to attempt to deny access to ivermectin?

In Part 2, we will explore the covid vaccine, with a special focus on the safety of the increasingly mandated shots.

Postscript for this section: On Tuesday we were able to get the ivermectin and other treatment to the patient mentioned at the beginning of this letter. She let us know on Thursday that she had stopped having fevers Tuesday evening and is clearly doing better. No treatment = She got sicker. Within hours of starting the treatment, she is better. And this same type of story happens again and again! And yet, pay attention to what the Yakima Health District, among others, tells us. “Don’t use ivermectin!” Why? They do not forbid any other medication for any other disease. Why now for covid?
