Part 2: Science for Ivermectin
PLEASE NOTE: THIS NEWSLETTER ADDRESSES SOME SERIOUS ISSUES REGARDING THE “APPROVED” WAY OF TREATING COVID. THE CURRENT TREATMENT PROTOCOLS FOR COVID THERAPY ARE NOT WORKING. IN THIS PRIVATE NEWSLETTER POSTED FOR THE USE AND INFORMATION OF MY PATIENTS, I EXPLAIN SOME OF MY CONCERNS AND PROPOSE THAT THERE MAY BE BETTER WAYS TO TREAT COVID.
IF ANY GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL READS THIS LETTER AND FINDS THE THINGS I AM SAYING TO BE PROBLEMATIC, PLEASE ACT LIKE RATIONAL SCIENTISTS AND ADULTS AND OFFER TO DISCUSS THESE ISSUES IN AN OPEN FORUM. SHOW ME WHERE I AM WRONG. THIS, HISTORICALLY, IS THE METHOD OF SCIENCE.
PLEASE KNOW: I AM VERY HAPPY AND, IN FACT, DESIROUS OF DISCUSSING THESE ISSUES IN A PUBLIC SETTING WITH THOSE WHO PERCEIVE THEMSELVES AS BEING IN POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY AND/OR KNOWLEDGE AND WHO DISAGREE WITH MY VIEWS. SHOW ME WHERE I AM WRONG AND I WILL OPENLY ACKNOWLEDGE MY CHANGE IN UNDERSTANDING.

For the sake of argument, let’s assume that there is very little data to support the use of ivermectin for treating covid. (I’ll show you in a short time that it is very effective in treating covid.) But to follow the argument, we assume it doesn’t help much.
The next big question is: Is it safe?
Unquestionably it is a very safe medication. Support for this assertion is abundant. One good option is https://covid.us.org/2021/01/28/ivermectin-safe-effective-covid-19/ There are other good resources supporting the science.
Ivermectin is on the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines for children and adults. It has a long history of use - since about 1975. Ivermectin won the Nobel Prize in 2015. It has been a remarkable medication for world health. And, to repeat, it is very safe.
Since a drug like this is in fact safe and known to be effective for many issues, and since some doctors believe that it is helpful for covid, why the restrictions on prescribing ivermectin? Even if you don’t think that it is effective, why the opposition (pharmacies won’t dispense if it’s to treat covid!) to an extremely safe medication that at the very least has some fairly favorable arguments going for it.
Suppose a doctor happens to think that omeprazole (an acid blocker) is great for arthritis and he prescribes it. No pharmacist asks, “Is the prescription for omeprazole being used to treat arthritis? And if it is for arthritis, then we can’t dispense.” It doesn’t happen.
If ivermectin is extremely safe and thousands of doctors believe that it is actually helpful for covid, why should a safe but debated medication be forbidden? To me, it makes no sense.
But let’s ask more directly: Is ivermectin effective in treating covid?
The answer is a big and enthusiastic “Yes!” I won’t take your time to explore each of the scores of articles that have been written demonstrating effectiveness. In the next newsletter, I’ll show you several of them with a bit of explanation. It would be good for you to be aware that there really is good support for using ivermectin for covid.
Let me provide an example of an article showing the benefit. The “Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine” on June 25, 2021, had an article titled (sorry, titles for medical journal articles tend to be very long), “Ivermectin as an adjunct treatment for hospitalized adult COVID-19 patients: A randomized multicenter clinical trial.”
The summary is this: “Ivermectin as an adjunct (means: part of the treatment protocol) reduces the rate of mortality (means: people are less likely to die), (it reduces) time of low O2 saturation, and (it reduces) duration of hospitalization in adult COVID-19 patients (meaning that they get out of the hospital faster). The improvement of other clinical parameters shows that ivermectin, with a wide margin of safety, had a high therapeutic effect on COVID-19.”
In other words, it is very safe (“wide margin of safety”), fewer people died when they were placed on ivermectin, they were not short of breath nearly so long, and they didn’t need to stay in the hospital for as long.
Summary: IVERMECTIN IS SAFE AND EFFECTIVE!
Are there other studies? Yes! A lot!
For the sake of a degree of brevity, let me provide three graphics that summarize a portion of the data. (I plan to shortly provide more information on the benefits of ivermectin by using the published science.)
The above seven studies looked at the risk of dying with and without ivermectin. On each of these studies, if the green square was at the 1 mark (between the Lower Risk and the Increased Risk), there would be no difference in death between those treated with ivermectin and those not treated with ivermectin. If the little green squares were above the 1 mark, say at 1.5, the risk of death would be higher in those using ivermectin.
But note: Every study shows that the risk of dying when using ivermectin is significantly lower. It’s about a 70% lower risk of death when using ivermectin according to these seven studies!
In the above series of studies, they are looking at the benefits of early treatment. The early treatment brought about a 69% improvement as an average across all these studies. Note: There were three studies in this group that did not show the benefit. The three red boxes to the right of the midline suggested that ivermectin was not helpful. But the overall benefit was significantly positive.
In these 14 studies looking at preventing covid, they interpret the improvement at about 86%. Pretty good numbers! And all of these studies showed good improvement.
If you would like to examine these and many more studies to see what the data actually shows, you could explore the website that I got these numbers from: https://ivmmeta.com/
There is another website that lists 113 studies done on covid and ivermectin. Let me show you what part of a page looks like.
It goes on and on with listing after listing. Some are a “meta-analysis” meaning that they are looking at and evaluating several or many articles. Others are actual studies of various kinds. Do you want data? Here you go: The website is: https://c19ivermectin.com/
Currently, there are119 different studies listed (on 9/26/21). Not all are positive regarding ivermectin for covid. But almost all are.
When you hear that there is no support for the use of ivermectin in the treatment of covid, you are often told to go to the science. Then you are told what the science says - and you are told that the science says that ivermectin is of no benefit and might be dangerous.
Here, ladies and gentlemen, is the science. You can look at it for yourselves. You don’t have to guess. You don’t have to take the word of Tony Fauci, or Jay Inslee, or me. You can read the data.
Now we’ll look at some international research regarding ivermectin and its benefit for covid.
Note this graphic was published in a newspaper in California. This is only a snapshot. The source is
But there are many other sources discussing the same benefits in India due to ivermectin treatment.
The states in India which are widely using ivermectin have seen a dramatic drop in Covid. The word dramatic here is not used to conjure up drama. A 97% drop in Covid cases IS dramatic! Huge! Impressive! The benefit is attributed to this wide use of ivermectin! Please help me understand: Why are pharmacists prohibited from dispensing ivermectin if it is to be used for Covid?
And here the head of the Tokyo Medical Society is saying all covid cases should be treated with ivermectin.
Japan is a very advanced country scientifically. If even the head of the large Tokyo Medical Association is recommending the safe use of ivermectin, why can’t pharmacists dispense ivermectin here in supposed “the land of the free”?
In Africa, there’s a fascinating correlation study that is at least interesting. Perhaps compelling? Granted, this is not a study that was set up to look for a connection between lower Covid death rates and the use of ivermectin. But it is an observation - which is an important starting point for science.
The authors note that in the blue countries on the following map of Africa the people are widely treated with ivermectin for parasites. In the lighter-colored parts of Africa, ivermectin is not widely used. Across the lower part of the graphic, you can see the death rates from covid. The blue line across the very bottom correlates with deaths in the countries using ivermectin. The yellow line correlates with deaths from Covid in countries not widely using ivermectin. You can see how the yellow line spikes three times, with two of the spikes being quite high. In the countries using ivermectin, the death rate from covid is very low during the whole time, but in the countries not regularly using ivermectin, the covid death rate is much higher.
This, again, is observational. The lower covid death rate in the blue countries could be due to some other factor. But the lower death rate could be due to the wide use of ivermectin. And if that is possible, why the antagonism to using a very safe and possibly effective medication in safe doses - not horse doses.
People want ivermectin. Here in Yakima, people want ivermectin. If doctors are forbidden to prescribe, what do people do? They get the horse ivermectin and run a higher risk of taking too high of a dose. Why the opposition to prescribing safe doses of ivermectin that could very well be helpful.
So…
… if covid is disappearing in India due to the wide use of ivermectin...
… and if ivermectin is the recommended treatment in Tokyo, Japan for covid…
… and if countries in Africa using ivermectin have a hugely lower death rate from covid compared with other African countries which do not regularly use ivermectin…
… then WHY do the Washington State and Yakima County Health Boards tell us that it shouldn’t be used? Literally, honestly, help me out. If I’m wrong in my claims, please show me.
Let me restate what I said earlier:
Since ivermectin is KNOWN to be an extremely safe medication when used properly, and…
Since many jurisdictions around the world encourage and support the use of ivermectin specifically for covid, and…
Since we currently seem to have no good treatment for early acute cases of covid…
Why are the State and County governments so opposed to the use of what has been shown in many locations to be both safe and effective? Is this not strange to rational people?
In case you might think what I’m saying is a theory, let me share with you some letters from patients properly treated for covid as they tell their journey through covid. (Note: these letters may be slightly edited for spelling or length, but we will not withhold any relevant input.)
Letter 1 from September of 2021:
“Dr. Rick Wilkinson helped my 95-year-old mother get through the disease earlier in the year. On the second or third day, she was on the ivermectin and because of the early intervention, the virus did not go into her lungs. Some aches like common flu for 5-6 days with slight fever but not much more than a common flu type experience. No side effects from ivermectin. Thankful for the Nobel Prize drug and the good Dr who prescribed it.
Letter 2 from late summer 2021:
“Last winter I experienced flu-like symptoms but lost sense of smell as well. Started on ivermectin on the third day and had no side effects from ivermectin. Achey and fatigued for a few days but have had previous flu that was worse than covid. Ivermectin should be given in a kit to every household in my opinion.”
Letter 3:
“December 29, 2020, I began experiencing flu-like symptoms, while others around me were experiencing covid. On my third day of noticeable symptoms, I lost my sense of taste and smell with body aches and great fatigue. I then received my first dose of ivermectin. After my second dose of ivermectin, my symptoms began to subside. I did not have any adverse reactions from taking ivermectin. As a high-risk patient, I am convinced I was helped tremendously by taking ivermectin in the early stage of my journey with covid. I am very grateful for the doctor giving me ivermectin for my care. I wish everyone would have the opportunity to take ivermectin at the beginning of their journey with covid.”
Letter 4:
“I was tested for covid in the first week of January 2021. Testing positive, I received treatment with ivermectin and got well. So I wasn’t feeling well for a few days before starting treatment (waiting for test results). I started feeling better in the next few days. No side effects. I continued treatments from Dr. Wilkinson and continued to get better. In my opinion, ivermectin saved my life.”
Letter 5:
“In August of 2021, I started getting covid symptoms, took a test and it was positive. This was already day 3 since symptoms started. I called Dr. Wilkinson because I didn’t want to wait until I possibly got really sick. He had me start on his flu/cold protocol that entailed lots of vitamins. He also prescribed ivermectin. I started on this on day 5 of symptoms. I did go through many symptoms which were sore throat, coughing, tiredness, chills, diarrhea, headache, congestion, upset stomach, throwing up, no taste or smell, sinus infection feeling, and out of breath easily. I did start improving by day 8 due to what Dr. Wilkinson prescribed to do. By day 14, I was pretty much normal. I had no side effects whatsoever from the ivermectin.
“My husband started getting symptoms 7 days after I did. He started the same protocol with ivermectin that Dr. Wilkinson prescribed on day 2 of his symptoms. He had much less and milder symptoms than I had and we believe that was due to him starting on all that was prescribed by Dr. Wilkinson early on when symptoms started. The duration of time that his symptoms lasted was only 7 days, compared to the 14 days that I had. He too had no side effects whatsoever from the ivermectin. We are truly thankful that we had access to this doctor and the protocol that he prescribed for covid.”
These are covid patients we treated with ivermectin as part of a more inclusive protocol. Time after time we have seen them improve. Rather than doing nothing and then sending them in desperation to the already overrun hospital, why aren’t more doctors treating? For many people, the protocols work. They get better rapidly. And they rarely have to go to visit the overrun hospital.
You can hear via the media the stories of how overwhelmed our only Yakima hospital can be. Wouldn’t the wise thing be to treat early with treatments that have been shown to work elsewhere and are positively endorsed in at least some parts of the world? Wouldn’t that have a beneficial effect of lightening the load being carried by our single, overwhelmed hospital here.
To me, early treatment with a combination of the best current options we have is wise.
I know that if I were to become very ill or have a severe injury where I needed the services of the hospital, I would prefer that they not be feeling totally overwhelmed. We are doing our best to try to help lighten their load.
Despite the above types of evidence, we are increasingly being told not to treat our patients. This purposeful neglect is difficult for me to understand.
To conclude this section:
IS IVERMECTIN SAFE FOR USE IN PEOPLE WITH COVID-19?
I BELIEVE THE ANSWER IS A CLEAR YES!
IS IVERMECTIN EFFECTIVE IN TREATING PEOPLE WITH COVID-19?
I BELIEVE THE ANSWER IS VERY LIKELY TO BE YES!
IN SUMMARY
We’ve been told by various organizations that we should not use ivermectin to treat people who are sick with covid. In fact, I called in today (Sunday, September 5, 2021) the prescriptions for a woman who is quite sick with covid and was told that the corporation forbade their pharmacists from dispensing ivermectin and other important treatments to patients with Covid. To me, this is beyond amazing! Disappointing. Perplexing.
We’re told that the only treatment is to get the covid shot. And we are told that it is both safe and effective. We will explore in the forthcoming Part 3 of this series, the arguments that the shot is safe. We will not deal with the question of effectiveness in that article. We may pursue that at another time.
We’ve given a summary of the actual science that demonstrates that ivermectin is safe and that it is very likely effective. And we have provided resources where you can explore the actual data to your heart’s content.
And finally, we’ve presented actual case testimonies of people sick with covid and how using ivermectin in combination with other treatments can be both safe and beneficial.
ACTION: Consider contacting your County Commissioners, your County Health Board, and your City Council. You might ask them to support access to treatments such as ivermectin.
