Coronavirus - Pandemic 2020
CoronaVirus - Pandemic 2020
Don’t worry. We’ll get to the Corona virus shortly.
But first: Would you rather deal with being infected by the corona virus or the polio virus?
I know. Polio is mostly a thing of the past, but, conceptually, would you rather get corona or polio?
If you were to ask me, I’d far rather deal with the problems raised by the corona virus than polio any day.
Did you know that there were actually some treatments available in the 1940s and early 1950s that easily and always cured polio - according to the researcher. The treatment program was reported at an AMA meeting.
The polio epidemic reached its peak in the late forties and early fifties. Thereafter the number of cases in the United States plunged. In 1955 when the polio vaccine was introduced the incidence curve was already in a steep downward trajectory.
But for those who were infected by polio, there could be severe consequences including death, going to the iron lung (a big machine that would breathe for people with paralyzed breathing muscles), and permanent residual weakness.
It was a frightening time. Many people were impacted. And it was generally considered that nothing could be done to treat the disease. The only treatment was helping the consequence of the disease - physical therapy to regain some strength, iron lungs to maintain breathing, and pain medications to help with pain.
But, with rare exceptions, nothing was being done to treat the disease of polio.
Dr Klenner of North Carolina
One noble exception was a Dr. Fredrick Robert Klenner. He graduated from Duke University Medical School in 1936. He became a specialist in chest diseases including tuberculosis. He was a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. But his actual practice was more that of a general practitioner. He loved treating chest disease but he also delivered hundreds of babies.
He spent his career in a small town in North Carolina.
Dr Klenner cured every polio case he saw by using high dose vitamin C. (!)
Being a chest physician, he began using vitamin C in large doses to treat viral pneumonia. He reported this success in the Journal of Southern Medicine and Surgery in 1948. As one writer put it, “Dr Klenner reported successful treatment of 41 cases of viral pneumonia using massive doses of vitamin C.”
He realized that vitamin C, especially when given IV or IM or even in large doses orally, could be extremely effective in treating viral illnesses.
One researcher, a cardiologist named Thomas Levy, wrote as follows: “When I first came across Klenner’s work on polio patients, I was absolutely amazed and even a bit overwhelmed at what I read…To know that polio had been easily cured and yet so many babies, children, and some adults still continued to die or survive to be permanently crippled by the virus was extremely difficult to accept.”
In 1949, Dr Klenner presented information on his work at the Annual Session of the American Medical Association in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Dr Klenner: “It might be interesting to learn how poliomyelitis was treated in Reidsville, NC during the 1948 epidemic. In the past seven years, virus infections have been treated and cured in a period of seventy-two hours by the employment of massive frequent injections of ascorbic acid, or vitamin C. I believe that if vitamin C in these massive doses - 6,000 to 20,000mg in a twenty-four hour period - is given to these patients with poliomyelitis, none will be paralyzed and there will be no further maiming or epidemics of polio.”
In July of 1949, at close to the peak of the polio epidemic, he published a report in Journal of Southern Medicine and Surgery. He had thus far seen 60 polio cases and was able to cure every case that he saw. All patients were well within 3 days. None had any paralysis. And this was all done by using what they were calling “massive” doses of vitamin C given primarily IV and IM or intramuscularly.
In a 1950 letter, Dr Klenner writes, “Since my last communication, I have seen four new cases of polio. All of these have completely recovered. Three cases were seen in the acute febrile (feverish) stage and in each instance, using (a lot of vitamin C by injection) every 2 to 4 hours, recovery was spontaneous in 48 hours.”
You still with me? Do you realize how remarkable this discovery was? If you treat a viral disease or infection with enough vitamin C, INCLUDING POLIO, the patient would be cured. This happened in EVERY case he treated.
Let me give you one more remarkable - though more difficult - case. This girl had already had polio for some time before she came to see him.
Four year old girl with polio who could not walk - CURED!
In 1951, “Klenner described a five-year-old girl stricken with polio. This child had already been paralyzed in both of her lower legs for over four days! The right leg was completely limp, and the left leg was determined to be 85% flaccid. Pain was noticed especially in the knee and lumbar areas. Four consulting physicians confirmed the diagnosis of polio. Other than massage, vitamin C was the only therapy initiated.
“After four days of vitamin C injections the child was again moving both legs, but with only very slow and deliberate movement. Klenner also noted that there was a ‘definite response’ after only the first injection of vitamin C. The child was discharged from the hospital after four days, and 1000mg of oral vitamin C was continued every two hours with fruit juice for seven days. The child was walking about, although slowly, on the 11th day of treatment.
“By the 19th day of treatment there was a ‘complete return of sensory and motor function,’ and no long-term impairment ever resulted. Vitamin C not only completely cured this case of polio, it completely reversed what would undoubtedly have been a devastating, crippling result for the remainder of this girl’s life.”
In the course of some 40 years of practice, Dr Klenner would use large doses of vitamin C against any and all viral diseases with great success.
Other diseases for which Dr Klenner found that vitamin C would often work included:
1. Bladder infections
2. Rocky Mountain spotted fever
3. Alcoholism
4. Arthritis
5. Leukemia
6. Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
7. Ruptured vertebral discs
8. High cholesterol
9. Corneal ulcers (of the eye)
10. Diabetes
11. Glaucoma
12. Burns and secondary infections
13. Heat stroke
14. Radiation burns
15. Heavy metal poisoning
16. Chronic fatigue
17. Complications from surgery
18. He cured tetanus
19. He cured venomous bites from spiders and snakes
20. And he claimed it was very helpful in the treatment of multiple sclerosis
He developed an interesting protocol for treating MS using vitamin C and a variety of vitamins and minerals.
Back to 2020
These days we are not having to deal with polio - Thank God!
But from time to time there are a variety of viruses that can still create a great deal of trouble and ill health for people.
According to Dr Klenner, virtually all viral diseases (at least based on his experience) are treatable with high doses of vitamin C.
What is the Corona Virus? Well - it’s in the name. It’s a virus. And if Dr Klenner is correct, we should be able to easily treat the virus with high doses of vitamin C given by IV.
I have never treated a case of Corona virus disease. But I’m quite confident that we could effectively treat it using vitamin C in high doses.
I have treated many cases of mono (Epstein Barr virus) using IV vitamin C. And it works great!
I’ve treated cases where people got mono years ago and they never really recovered from the mono back when they were a teen. Using high dose IV vitamin C can be very effective treating “post mono syndrome”.
One brief case. A 25 yo man came in to see me due to severe fatigue ever since he got mono when he was 18 years old. He was trying to get into his career which required some strength and stamina but was finding it very challenging due to the perpetual fatigue.
We treated him 7 times with high dose IV vitamin C. By the end of that course of treatments, he was feeling quite normal. He was able to go back to work and has done well since.
His mother was in the office recently and I asked her about her son. “He’s doing great!”, she said.
If I was concerned about the Corona virus, what would I do?
Don’t wait to get it!
Begin preparing now!
What are the major steps that I would be taking now to help me never get the bug, or, if I did get it, would help me fight it off?
1. Diet 1: Seriously minimize sugars and sweets. These impair immune function and make you more susceptible to infections of all sorts.
2. Diet 2: Increase the amount of fresh foods you eat. Veggies and some fruits.
3. Be sure your vitamin D is in a good range. If you don’t know where your vitamin D is, be sure to take at least 5000U of vitamin D3 each day.
4. Vitamin A. This is a big boost to the immune system. For the next couple of months it would be good to take some 20,000U of actual vitamin A (not beta carotene) each day.
5. Vitamin C: Daily take at least 2-3,000mg twice per day. If you get diarrhea or loose stools from this much vitamin C, lower the dose a bit and find how much you can tolerate. After a week, you could probably increase the dose again.
6. Curcumin is a great anti inflammatory and helps prevent all sorts of illness. A great option is a combination of curcumin, quercetin and frankincense - goes by BCQ. Call the office if you would like some.
7. Hydrate well. Figure your weight in pounds. Divide that by 2. Drink at least that many ounces each day. Example: a 128 pound woman. Divide by 2 = 64. So drink at least 64 ounces of water per day, which happens to be 2 quarts.
8. Get good sleep. Get to bed on time. Take melatonin to help with sleep, if needed.
9. Be sure that you are having at least 1 good bowel moment per day. That is one good way to keep detoxing your body. Use what you need to be sure you have those bowel movements. Some good options: Magnesium as CALM, lots of vitamin C, drinking lots of water, occasional senna.
What if you are starting to feel sick, like a viral thing?
Call our office and ask for the Cold/Flu Protocol. Be sure you have it in hand. Begin doing the protocol at first sign of getting sick.
You should be sure you have in hand the correct Vitamin A.
And you could begin doing IV vitamin C. Call us and we can get you set up.
Hope this helps you understand some of the options that you have.
Sincerely,
Rick Wilkinson, MD
PS: In a future edition, we might explore some other options to protect and treat this scary disease.
